Angela Chong

BIO
A graduate from RMIT Bachelor of arts, Fine Arts (Honors), installation artist Angela Chong has a keen interest in creating narratives in her installations, blurring between fiction and ‘reality’. Using with light and darkness in her installations, she entices her audience to question the emotional attachment between the object and its owner, in the context of history and site-specificity. She had also created interactive works for Quite, an exhibition that she had initiated and it travelled to Malaysia with inclusion of Malaysian artists. She had several commissioned public works, namely for Art Around SAM at Singapore Art Museum, Zoukout 10th Anniversary Party 2010, iLight Marina Bay Singapore in 2010, 2012 and 2014. She had been actively showing overseas and in Singapore, going to several art residencies, namely in Iceland in 2010, Japan in 2008, and Czech Republic in 2006. She had also participated in Amsterdam Light Festival 2012, Vivid Festival 2011 and 2012 in Sydney, 100 Points of Light Festival 2006 in Melbourne, Australia, and CP International Biennale 2003 in Jakarta, Indonesia. Her recent exhibitions included iLight Marina Bay 2014, Amsterdam Light Festival 2012, and she was featured in an arts TV series, Artist-in-Residence. She works as a part-time Lecturer at LASALLE College of the Arts.
